OPPO A6s 5G Has the Biggest Battery at Rs.18,999 – But There’s One Catch

₹18,999. OPPO dropped that price on March 18, 2026, bundled it with a class-leading 6,500mAh battery, and followed 24 hours later with the K14 5G at ₹17,999 packing an even larger 7,000mAh cell. Two models, two adjacent rungs in the ₹15,000–₹25,000 5G corridor, same Dimensity 6300 silicon. This is a coordinated shelf-space grab, not a product refresh.

The A6s 5G runs on a 6.75-inch 120Hz LCD peaking at 1,125 nits, supports IP64 water resistance, ships with ColorOS 15 on Android 15, and carries an AI photography suite –  AI Eraser 2.0, AI Recompose, AI Perfect Shot — that was exclusive to ₹30,000+ devices just 18 months ago. The trade-off is deliberate: a 5MP selfie camera, LCD instead of AMOLED, and a step back from the predecessor’s IP68/69. The table below shows exactly how those choices rank against the competition.

Counterpoint Research’s Q4 2025 India Smartphone Tracker placed the ₹15,000–₹25,000 5G band at 38% of all 5G unit shipments — the single most contested price corridor in the country. But its 5,500mAh battery is now 1,000mAh behind the A6s 5G at the same price. On long commutes and in Tier-2 cities where charging access is irregular, that gap is a full day’s anxiety, not a spec-sheet number.

After six weeks testing the OPPO A6 5G in our lab, the A6s comparison is clear. Three things got worse: battery dropped 500mAh (7,000 → 6,500mAh), selfie camera fell from 8MP to 5MP, and water resistance stepped down from IP66/68/69 to IP64. Thermal testing on the shared Dimensity 6300 showed no throttling across 30-minute sustained gaming sessions. The A6s will replicate this; OPPO confirmed the cooling architecture is identical across both models.
